Hong-Ik Academy aims to contribute to creating a new culture across the globe, in which people consider spiritual growth more valuable than material growth.
We call it a culture of Conscience because we believe that conscience represents the true self of human beings.
Our focus, therefore, is to cultivate and practice Conscience, drawing upon philosophical and religious teachings.
Our Philosophy
Conscience is our hope, which takes others’ welfare into consideration. One should first have a clear understanding of oneself and then, by extending that understanding, look to others.
We must always search for answers that can benefit all people, by putting ourselves in others’ shoes: namely, treat others in the way as you would like to be treated; and do not treat others as you would not like to be treated. This is what ‘The Great Humanitarian Ideal’, a long-cherished dream of human being, stands for.
Our History
Hong-Ik Academy was established in 2004
and is an organization devoted to realize
‘the Great Humanitarian Ideal’
that has been a fundamental ideology of Korean people for thousands of years.
The great humanitarianism is a dream of Korean traditional ideology of Dangunism. And venerable Bong Woo who was a grandmaster of Dangunism and taught and led many people into a new spiritual civilization is one of our great teachers.
